I've poured over the forum and wiki trying to find a fix. The quartz.dll fix doesn't
seem to be for my case.

My problem is that when I watch liveTV, and then the subsequent recording as well, some channels have really poor reception, as in the pic below. Others just have diagonal non-colored lines while the reception on some pixelated.

I've tried changing variou settings like decoders etc. No change in the lines.

Any ideas? Im giving out torrent invites for any Mahatma that helps me out! Smile

Make sure you're set to 32bit color.

Also, you can have problems if you have a power unit that is too small (< 300W)

Im guessing ur referring to the graphics controller/chipset/whatever?

I checked and it is.

My DC power supply is at 250 watts.

Is that the only problem then? Upgrade my power supply?

thx.

I had a 250w and wavy lines and flickering (even on the menus). The 450w I replaced it w/ put an end to that.

It may not fix your problem, but it did fix mine.

do you have the problems when you watch regular tv? Have you tried using something like wintv to compare the quality with what gbpvr is showing. Lookinh at the picture you posted I would almost guess a ground loop. Do the wavy lines move from left to right across the screen? Try a different coax cable. Try pulling the tv card an re-seating it. It could just have a bad ground against the pc case.

When watching live tv just try manipulating your aerial feed into your tuner socket, and see if that alters it, I also on my old pc used ferrite ring on the aerial feed which reduced this sort of interference or cross modulation.

And what's an aerial feed?

I don't think its the cable since I tried a few. And this one is a brand new cable I just picked up.

The lines seem to go back and forth, left to right, right to left but at a diagonal angle.

I'll try ur suggestions. thx

Also, keep in mind I've split my cable connection so that one goes to the t.v. in an adjacent room while another cable goes to the Hauppauge card.

thx.

Have you tried removing the splitter to rule that out. I have run into that problem before when I used a cheap splitter. The cable only carries so much power and once you start splitting it you do get some signal loss. A low quality splitter would make it more noticable.
