Do skins show *more* show info, or just skin existing stuff

Hi everyone - I'm pretty happy with GB's default skins at the moment, but one thing I have been missing is more show information in my recordings view.

For example, I can have twently episodes of a series saved. I can see the *series* name and recording date, but I have to select the show itself to see the *episode* name. I'd like the option to see all the episodes at once.

Is this something that can be addressed by finding the right skin?

the skins wont give you more info directly, they are primarily to give you a different look to GBPVR rather than enhancing the info. its utilities and plugins which provide what you are looking for.

the rename recording utility might give you the info you want, it retitles a programe to reflect the episode name if it is available in the EPG.

Otherwise, you might wanna look at revens My Video plugin and Jeffs Video Archive plugin which both expand the capabilities on handling video files/recordings etc. they are both excellent but use different methods and looks so its a question of personal taste as to which you use.

To clarify a little. Video Archive will show the episode name without having to rename anything. (as long as it was available) My Video may do the same thing but I don't use that plugin at the moment.

My Videos shows the episode name without renaming also. I too wish the Recordings view showed the episode name in the list view.

I sure each of the above options all have pros and cons, but some also looked like they were a little more challenging to integrate probably because they have lots of extra functionality.

* Which options would be the easiest to give me the episode name info? - I have not added any plug ins yet and want to start with something simple that won't take my off line for a long time! Thanks!

Several skins give you the episode name without selecting the actual recording using just the standard 'Recordings'. I'm currently using ContourHC and it has it. I can't remember the others that use this feature, but I know I've seen it before. ContourHC has a few other features I like, such as giving you three lines in the on-screen mini-guide (instead of two) and it shows the episode name on a bar at the top when you bring up the info while watching.
I would just browse the wiki for a skin you like the look of, download several and try them until you settle on one you like.
