broadcast signal quality at the time of the recording?...

Given your other thread on the recordings that have stopped way too soon, i'd say this is a very high chance of a poor received signal.

The wonders of digital, remember digital means it has two states.

1. It works
2. It doesn't

A poor DVB signal will either work very well or rapidly turn into picture break up and the next option is nothing at all. I suggest you investigate your antenna, cable, connections and any other parts in the distribution. It would help if you described where you were, what aerial you have, how it reaches the Nova etc.

What result do you get when using the Hauppauge software?

David.

What's the OP's location? High pressure weather conditions over the UK right now are causing lots of TV signal interference.
[SIZE="1"]Receiving UK DVB-T from Rowridge and DVB-S from Astra 28.2

PC: 3GHz AMD, 1GB RAM, XP Pro SP2.
TV stuff: Nova-T 909, Nova-T 90002, TwinHan clone TechniSat Skystar, 2xMVP.
Wireless link PC->router
Wired link router->MVP1
Wireless link router->Edimax EW-7206 54g Access Point->MVP2

Issues:
- Rubbish reception, due to dodgy set-top aerial
- MVP occasionally losing connection with PC

I'm also getting the same problem on some recent recordings .... was ok before and does not happen on all recordings.

I put it down to signal reception.

Can you be more specific? Which town are you in, which transmitter do you receive from?

David.
