Hi,

I have started working on a little utility for editing the channel information and tuning-requests for DVB.

I have had a look at the channel table and the source_channel_mapping tables. It seems to me that the channel_number field in the channel table is used for sequencing and nothing more. The analogue tuner stations are stored in source_channel_mapping.source_channel_number.

So, if i resequenced the channels via the channel.channel_number field, this would have no adverse affects.

Am i correct, or have i misunderstood something.

Regards,

Antony.

Also if you type in a channel number and press enter when viewing tv, this is the channel.channel_number field.

You can resequence the channels via the channel.channel_number.

thanks sub

another question for you.

What is the SOURCE_CHANNEL_MAPPING.SOURCE_CHANNEL_NUMBER field used for.

As far as i can tell it's the analogue tuning channel, but for my BDA source (Nova-T 90002 card) CHANNEL.CHANNEL_NUMBER value seems to get copied into it.

How exactly is it used? Is it just ignored for BDA sources?

many thanks.

SOURCE_CHANNEL_MAPPING.source_channel_number is not used if you're using BDA. If you using analog, it is the channel number that is tuned to (or sent out an IR Blaster) when you view that channel.

For example CHANNEL.channel_number may have channel '1' for BBC1, but SOURCE_CHANNEL_MAPPING.source_channel_number may be '45' to represent the frequency that the channel is physically transmitted on.
