in light of the zap2it situation, i would like to clarify a couple of things in regards to updating the EPG by an XMLTV data file.

if i have 10 days of data currently in the EPG and i download XMLTV data for day 11 (using the offset switch), when i perform a GBPVR EPG update it will append this 11th day data to the EPG?

if in the same 10 EPG scenario i download XMLTV data for the current day and perform a GBPVR EPG update, will any changes to the EPG will be made provided there are no additional channels? i.e. will the stored EPG schedule for today be updated to reflect changes or do you have to perform a complete empty and 10 day reload?

Currently, updates to shows in the EPG will only be loaded if you use the 'complete reload' option, otherwise only new shows are added at the tail end of the guide.

I've changed things in the next release to help with the difficulty this causes the zap2it service, but only if you're using the built in zap2it EPG source (not XMLTV).

sounds good. i will probably switch over to the built-in zap2it at that time.

btw, i don't suppose there is a way (ideally though a commandline switch) to export the EPG back to an XMLTV file is there?

No there isnt. You can get it to save the original XML response received from zap2it, but its not in XMLTV format.

sub,

what does this switch in the config.xml do and what are it's allowed values?

<EPGProcessingMode>NORMAL</EPGProcessingMode>

Normal is the only value you should using. There is a couple of other values that I use, but they're only for my testing. Other options do stuff like create the channel list from an external text file etc. Nothing particularly exciting.

gottcha.

so with these settings i am using the updated zap2it fetcher features?

Quote: <!-- EPG settings -->
<EPGProcessingMode>NORMAL</EPGProcessingMode>
<UpdateEPGHour>14</UpdateEPGHour>
<WakeMachineForEPGUpdate>false</WakeMachineForEPGUpdate>
<BlebUserAgent>GBPVR</BlebUserAgent>
<Zap2itListingDays>10</Zap2itListingDays>
<DvbEpgHarvestDuration>120</DvbEpgHarvestDuration>
<SaveZap2itXML>false</SaveZap2itXML>
<UseNewZap2itParser>true</UseNewZap2itParser>
<CompleteEPGReload>false</CompleteEPGReload>

as i understood it, setting the completeEPGReload to false kicked in the today+tomorrow+append mode...

I'm shortly going to change over from bleg to xmltv from the radio times - at the same time going to use a blaster to change satellite channels (at the moment I set the sky box to change channels itself). Also at the same time move to the newly released version. I'm thinking of starting from scratch.

Are there any 'secret' tools hidden away that could simplify my life of setting satellite channel numbers for the blaster as I have a text list of name vs channel number. I was contemplating playing with Access, but it's years since I've used it.

regards
