I've got a Retail non-MCE Happauge PVR2 USB2 card that isn't detected by GB-PVR. Not even the Hauppauge's website drivers detect this device. The only drivers that work were the 3.0 Hauppauge CD that came with the device. The CD's installation menu calls it the PVR2 USB2+.

Is there anyway to force GB-PVR to use this device? GB-PVR tells me that the device is not detected or the drivers are not properly installed. Thanks.

This is actually a new device. GB-PVR only knows about the "Happauge PVR USB2" not "Happauge PVR2 USB2".

Someone commented the other day that they got it working be editing the direct.ini file, and creating a new section based on the PVR USB2 one, but with the extra "2" added.

If you do this and get it going, please post the direct.ini section and I'll add it to the master file for the next release.

Thanks a bunch sub. You are the man! I've tested the below modified settings and recorded fine with them. I'm a bit psyched that I was able to contribute to your project even in a small way. Smile

<stuff erased. see below for correction.>

Cheers.

I suggest you rename it [Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2] to match what I've added it to the direct.ini file. Otherwise it might have problems after the next upgrade.

It doesn't work when I use [Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2] because that doesn't match the listing in the device tree, so that's why I added "Encoder."

The Windows device tree has it listed as:
[Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2 Encoder]

The name in square brackets doesnt need to match anything. They're just names I made up. After changing the name though, you need to go back into the config app and re-select your capture device from the list.
