For those either needing an alternative or not covered by XMLTV here is a useful link:

Good luckSmile

Yup, I use it.

Bit complicated to setup for the average user, if an ini does not already exist, but inis seem to be popping up all the time.

The author Bill D is a YAK (Yet Another Kiwi) btw :-) based in Hong Kong...

I use TVxb to. It's great
It doesn't download any icons though. So I made an Excel sheet (again)
and a first time "GBPVR configuration dummy TVguide.XML" with channel IDs and icon paths to Lyngsat Logo.
This sample will download logos for Dutch TV channels.
Could this be another Excel project ?
Best Regards

Hmm? The netherlands ini doesn't seem to have any, but there is a line you put in the TVXB.ini which will automatically download the icons ..e.g. from lyngsat

e.g.

[abc.hk]
name=ABC
name=61
icon=http://www.satlogo.com/logo/tv/aa/abcaus.jpg
timezone=+0800
url=http://abcasiapacific.com/guide/week_hongkong.htm
days=1
start=2
title=5
description=7

Great tool ... started to look for an alternative since xmltv droped the support for Switzerland ... now I am a happy camper again.

Seems great to have all epg options in a excel file, especially since this one is able to download from different epg sources at a time. The dutch tvgids.nl does not list all channels broadcasted, so some could much more easily be added with this utility than with most other grabbers.

A macro able to create the necessary ini file once the wanted channels are ticked would complete the whole project.

If I define >3 days (f.i. days=4,+1) in my TVxb config file, then I get *errors for the 4th day. I like to have (dutch/belgium) TV program content for at least one week (days=7,+1).

* Failed to understand schedule format
ERROR: Giving up on [nederland2.gids.nl] .....: Failed to locate this date information in the downloaded page: "zaterdag 02 september"

Amontillado's tvgids_to_xml gives 7 days with descriptions and genre(if you want). TVxB only gives 3 days with limited descriptions. I had some problems with tvgids_to_xml lately but they seem to be gone.

Edit: with tvgids_to_xml you dl a full week and after that you only dl today (0) and day 6, every day. That keeps the strain down on the xmltv-server

Right, but the TVxb manual suggest more then 3 days. Besides, no scheduling of the Talpa programs (either xmltv). I don’t like the Talpa programs but the only Dutch football league on TV is scheduled on Talpa :-( With comclean or timeshift you don't have commercial shit during the program (except the annoying talks...)

HtV Wrote:I had some problems with tvgids_to_xml lately but they seem to be gone.

The Talpa program scheduling however was wrong with Amontillado's tvgids_to_xml, but after changing in the ini file channel 89 in 92 the programming content of Talpa seems correct now.

I noticed that.
