Whenever I record a programme longer than 1 hr the duration counter (during playback) never shows a length greater than 59 min XX secs. I believe this started at version .15 but it could have been earlier.

The programme is recorded completely and plays back fine.

Hi,

I find the same behaviour. It is allways like that when I record a program.

Ah, just noticed why some of my recording indicate the wrong duration, if they are over 1 hr it knocks the hour off, so a 1hr 1m 20s recording shows as 0hr 1m 20s. I thought at first it was a totally random length.

I'll do some long recordings today while I'm at work.

I would add that "the program records completely and plays back fine", if played back through the 350 on the computer. That includes being able to Fast Forward, Rewind or Skip.

However, the incorrectly reported length seems to freak out the MediaMVP. If played through there, the Skip function will jump to seemingly random locations when attempted -  sometimes in the wrong direction. And if a jump should take it past the 59 minute point, the GB-PVR instance serving the MediaMVP will lockup and need to be restarted.

This should be corrected with the v0.18 release, released earlier today.

I was previously using the last MPEG-2 GOP timecode to determine the duration, which wasn't working correctly. From v0.18, I'm now using the last PTS (presentation time stamp) to determine the duration. The problem only affected the MVP users.

I transfered some mpg's directly from a Sat PVR, they are 480x480 generally and the time shows incorrectly, not only in GB-PVR but WinTV2000 as well, a 5 minute video will show as 40 sec or so.

For some reason SageTV shows the correct time.

Dont know if you have any ideas why?

I've you've got a 5 minute file and a website, I'm happy to download it and take a look.

When you say they are incorrect in GB-PVR, is this via the MVP client? It is only with the MVP client that I have to calculate the duration myself. For playback via VMR/Overlay etc then Directshow handles all the time calculation for me.

The Microsoft Directshow component responsible for determining the duration of a file is the MPEG-2 Splitter. SageTV has its own replacement for this component (to allowing them to FF/RW growing files), which is why it probably works for correctly.

Thanks for the info, 350 out seems to have the issue, have not tried the MVP. I'd upload a sample but the file is too large at 65MB.

Not a big issue anyhow was just wondering why.
