I have a spare box that I was thinking of turning into a media center using GBPVR.

I'm considering using the PVR 350 card since it has an s-video out, as well as mpeg-2 decoding to keep from killing the cpu.

Some questions about the card and GBPVR:
1) Is is supported?
2) Is the playback quality good through the s-video output?
3) Will the remote for the pvr control the functionality of GBPVR?

Thanks!

Yes... well... Sub isn't actively developing any features for it, but he tries to make sure nothing breaks with it.

Oh, yes. You will have a hard time finding anything like it.

Yes.

That said, I strongly discourage anyone from buying the pvr-350 without trying it on their own motherboard. Search the forum for 350 and lockups/hangs. You can start by reading this thread:

You'd probably be better off buying another pvr-card without hardware decoding, plus a Hauppauge MVP.

One more dumb question. Will the computer desktop show through the tv, or does it only output the tv signal when you use playback through GBPVR?

The computer desktop will not show. Many other pvr softwares cannot show menus through the pvr-350, but Sub has worked some magic, so GBPVR can show its menus there. There are a few other PVR softwares that can, too, but not all.

Sounds like I may have jumpped the gun when I purchased my 350 card. Anyway I have GB-PVR installed and can see and program the guide through the TV out card. However, when I select a recording for playback it doesn't play on either the TV or PC Monitor.

Any help with config recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I'm nearly there.

If you can see the menus through the tv-out on the pvr-350, you should have everything set to see recordings there, too.

Try checking the log files in your \devnz\gbpvr directory. They might give you a hint...

Afaik you have to choose wether you want to watch tv via pc-screen or tv via tv-out on 350. You select that in config/playback.

Another question, can GBPVR play divx and xvid from a file share through the pvr 350 video out?
