I am not making any recommendation here, I have just read reviews and the program seems to be a good one.

Amazon has Perfect Disk 7.0 on sale for $31.99 which qualifies for free shipping. There is also a $20 rebate on it through the end of April so you end up getting it for $11.99 shipped. For less than $12 I will give it a try. It is a mail in rebate so YMMV but I have never had any problems as long as I was careful and kept good records.

I just run a program call "contig" on recordings in postprocessing.bat, never had to defrag my recordings drive since, every file is contiguous & 1 fragment.

I have used Perfect Disk 7.0 for over 12 months and it really is set it and forget it; runs as a background process, schedules from within the app, multiple schedules (pvr drive every night, system every week), fast and reliable. Even does network drives. For 12 bucks, you're laughing...

A friend who works in our computer support department recommended Perfect Disk. I tried the demo. It blows away the built in defrag on XP.
I work in IT as well and can recommend the product. It does a great job and can optimize based on how often the file is used. That and nightly scheduled defrags. I will be ordering that for $12. That is a steal.

Kinda funny this topic would get started, I was trying to use the crappy defrag in win XP last night to clean up my PVR and was wanting to find something else that might do a better job Smile Just placed an order for that, thanks for the find!

I actually have been using contig and it is very nice. I haven't found a good way to use it automatically since my system will suspend itself while it is running since it has such low cpu usage. I have to disable the automatic suspend, run contig, then re-enable the automatic suspend and that is rather annoying.

I haven't tried Perfect Disk yet but for $12 it is under the "try it just for the heck of it" threshold. It came in today so I hope to play with it this weekend.

Has anyone that ordered Perfect Disk 7.0 received their rebate? I hate rebates... they always get "lost". I guess it's worth the $32 tho. LOL
