I am using Hauppage USB2 device
I have managed to get my pc to sleep when idle but have mixed results resuming.

If i press the power button on the pc it resumes very qucikly back to gbpvr maain screen and all is well.

If it resumes itself in order to record a scheduled program it doesnt work so well. The pc resumes and the recoding is made perfectly. The problem is that i have a black screen. The remote wont bring it round and if i try and vnc to it it wont connect.

If i then hit the power button it immediately jumps to gbpvr main screen as if there is nothing wrong - only problem is this causes the pc to shutdown Sad

Any ideas?

Mine system is the same way. I need to move the mouse or press a key to wake it up. The bios doesn't have a "reset display on resume" setting that would fix this.

Yes, this is a windows issue. Windows thinks that since it is a scheduled wake-up, no user is at the computer, and hence it does not need to show the screen.

That said, I have never noticed this behavious myself. But I use tv-out on the graphics card... do you guys use a computer monitor?

EDIT: I *do* get this behaviour. I have even cursed windows for it Wink I just have bad memory.

At the following link I think the reason is: The event 7 is what wakes up the screen, and that is never sent; we only get an event 18. Maybe some windows programmer here can figure out a way to send event 7 to Windows? In such case we could put a call to such a program in our wake.cmd...

Maybe one can use devcon to "restart" the graphics card, much in the same way as was done to the pvr-350 in wake.cmd...

ive been working on this for a while as i suffer the same thing.

Using TV-Out on the mini-itx....

I thought the 'Reset vga bios on resume' setting that Capone mentions might work but it doesnt here. I just get a black screen with a blinking cursor, as windows is still outputting nothing.

Then tried playing with my remote setup. Using HIP with the alternative MCE drivers, and tagged my space bar to a 'system wide input' which is supposed to mean that windows itself sees the command rather than a specific application, but this didnt work either. Wishfull thinking that it would be that simple! Still to post on the HIP forum about weather theres a workaround in HIP for this, or maybe something for a future release.

I found a utility called Nircmd which ive also played with. It can be fired with these parameters on the help page:

Quote:nircmd monitor [action]

Changes the state of the display monitor. The [action] parameter may contain the following values:

* off: Turn off the monitor
* on: Turn on the monitor
* low: Set the monitor to low power state.

This command only works in systems that support this feature.
Examples:
monitor off
monitor on

This *almost* works! i cant remember fully my results but *from very bad memory recall* it didnt work on my TV plugged into TV out untill i plugged a monitor into the VGA port.
I tried tagging 'nircmd monitor on' to a button on the remote but that didnt work. Still to play around with this though. It occured after id stopped playing, that maybe if i used wake.cmd to send 'nircmd monitor low' on resume, that maybe the 'on' command would then work when required from the remote.

The only time ive actually managed to get the TV to come on from the remote while in mid-recording was once when i managed to blindily navigate my menus (these still work despite you not seeing them) and selecting LiveTV. once in Live TV, my TV suddenly sprung to life...

couldnt replicate it after though!

grrr.

Yeah, well... I don't know much about it either... it is a utility that is used to control various aspects of hardware, but I don't know if it can control all hardware? See link below. And in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=84 it was used to restart the pvr-350 after wake-up...

I managed to fix this .... In the power save settings, advanced tab in Windows i set the "When i press the power button" from "Do Nothing"

Now when my machine has resumed and is recording i just press the power button and the screen jumps into life.

Your mileage may vary Smile
