Another thought.
Could you can click on UpdateEPG in the GBPVR folder for me to see if xmltv joins the files, and I-xmltv logs the UTC conversion. It won't go to Zap2It for an update until after midnight, but it will join the existing files using "xmltv tv_cat".

If you add the "pause" as below and close the dos window without pressing any key to continue, it won't empty your epg.

:common
REM *** The next two lines replace "UTC" TVGuide.xml entries with "+0000" ***
I-xmltv %OutputFileName%
MOVE I-XMLTV.XML %OutputFileName%
REM *** End GBPVR "UTC" Fix ***
PAUSE
CD "C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\"
gbpvr -OnlyEmptyEPG
IF %FirstRun% == 1 GBPVR -OnlyUpdateEPG

:end

1-13.xml files exist and 1.xml is larger than the rest. 2-7.xml all are on the same day just a few minutes apart. the rest are each on a different successive day. I few days ago i tried to clear up the time problem and whacked the #.xml files and let it pull them all down so that's why 2-7.xml are all on the same day.

Running UpdateEPG.bat seems to work as expected. The only thing is that it pushes my CPU to 100%...

That's sounds good, pretty much how it should be.
if you click on updateepg.bat does it work properly?
Another idea, is your system set to go into standby or hibernate? It takes a few minutes to do the file joining and update the epg.

No... the machine that runs GBPVR is my server machine that is on 100% of the time.

LOL, I think my brain went to bed a couple of hours ago.Big Grin
Let’s watch the log (and the xml files) and see how it stands up over the next few days. The only thing running between I-xmltv and I-xmltv UTC fix, is the xmltv.exe download and that’s beyond my control.

It’s probably time to ask sub.
sub, anyone, any ideas?
I don’t know why a batch file would fail only when it’s called from GBPVR. Not enough memory space?

But I can think of some workarounds that may work.
The first log tells us that I-xmltv ran properly the first time & shifted the files to the correct order for today’s download.
The second log tells us that the xmltv.exe downloaded today’s xml files, because their dates were logged, and nothing was renamed or deleted.

Did you by chance check the date on TVGuide.xml before doing the manual UpdateEPG? If TVGuide.xml had today’s date before you ran the batch manually, it would verify that tv_cat was successful in joining the files.

When you were using CleanXMLTV in UpdateEPG.bat (before I included the UTC fix) did it convert the UTC listings to +0000, and were your listing times correct? You could always go back to using it if it worked.

Since it only fails when called by GBPVR.
I guess you could rename UpdateEPG.bat to something else, “REM” out –onlyemptyepg, and schedule it to run with windows task scheduler. Then create a new UpdateEPG.bat with only “gbpvr –onlyemptyepg” in it.

How large is your TVGuide.xml file?
For reference, my TVGuide.xml is 15.9 MB (16,707,981 bytes)

I'm guessing its just something you're overlooking. Remember that when this called by the GBPVR Recording Service, its running as a different account, and not necessarily in the directory you expect. Its probably something to do with this second one thats causing you problems.

Ummmm... I'm not sure about that, but I guess could give that a go...

Just little larger than yours... 16.8 MB (17,682,767 bytes)

Thanks sub!
I forced tv_cat to fail by deleting one of the xml files it needed. It looks like tv_cat checks a non-existent folder when it has an error, I bet it isn’t coming back if there’s any error. I'll try setting the path again after tv_cat runs to see what happens.

Code:
D:\I-xmltv>xmltv.exe tv_cat 2.xml 3.xml   1>TVGuide.xml
Timezone is -0500
3.xml: Couldn't open 3.xml:
No such file or directory at /PerlApp/XMLTV.pm line 588
