Hi there,

For some reason I have noticed that channels 25 and above are full of static w/o sound even with default settings (what I usually use).

I have tried removing the settings for my video card and resetting it up but that did not fix it.

Lastly, I loaded WinTV2000 (came with my card) and noticed that this problem does not occur with WinTV.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possibly you've running some other tv software that has 'fiddled' the Microsoft tuning space settings on your machine? If so, then it'll most likely stuff things up for other directshow apps like GB-PVR. It wont affect WinTV2000.

sub,

Would removing the cards drivers and reinstalling fix this or what do you suggest?

If it is what I suggested above, then it can be cleaned up by deleting some registry settings. I cant remember the exact details, but the specifics have been discussed a few times in the past, so hopefully a forum search will tell you exactly which registry keys etc.

The reg keys to delete (be careful!) are detailed in

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Confi...elMappings

and

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...gAssistant

The key is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TSXX-Y

where XX = Country Code (e.g. 0 for US, 44 for UK and Y=0 for Broadcast and 1 for Cable).

jksmurf,

I don't have a TV System Services folder in my registry?

Are you sure you looked in the right place? I've never seen a machine that doesnt have these.

Then that is probably not your problem... that registry is only used to override the default settings from microsoft...

I just checked on my computer here at work, and I don't have that registry setting either (win xp, home edition).

A completely different tack here...
I had problems with bad reception onf high numbered channels, and it turned out to be too weak a signal from cable, due to having too many splitters in the line. If you can, connect your tuner card right where the cable comes into the building and see if that helps.
The cure for me was a $30.00 cable amplifier from Radio Shack. I put it right at the cable entrance to my house, and it made all the difference on the high channels!
