Hi,
Could I trouble some for alittle bit of advice. I currently have a WinTV PVR150 as the capture card and FX5200 as the TV out card via a dedicated PC. My intention is to replace the old VCR. In the VCR world, my cable signal RF coax cable went straight into the VCR then from the VCR coax out to the TV coax. This way, I can still tune into the stations with the VCR off. My old TV only has one input and that's the RF coax. With my current setup, I have to leave the PC on otherwise there's no signal getting to the TV. Cable coax to PVR150. Then output via FX5200 S-Video cable to S-video input of RF modulator. RF Modulator coax out to TV.
Questions
1) is there a way to allow signals to be transmitted to the TV without needing the PC on?
2) what is the best setting for viewing LiveTV? All my channels have a bit of loss to details (i.e. grass blades or hair details look smudged when compared to direct connection to TV). It's as if I recorded someone's recorded copy from a VHS tape. Probably due to the genereation loss from RF modulator conversion.
3) With high, low, LiveTV settings, what bitrate are people using? I see it maxes out at 12,000 but the high is set around 9000. Also, what's the difference between constant and variable?
4) I'm going to do a trial of Nvidias True Color Codec. Any thoughts on this over the Intervideo? Just like to be aware of peoples experience between the two.
5) When I flip through the channels, sometimes, the audio will be out of sync with the video or there will be a lot of stuttering for about a minute or two until it smooths out again. Any thoughts or setting changes I can do?
6) When recording a show, I can't watch any other channel. Is there away around this with only one capture card?
Sorry to throw so many questions out. I did do a search but maybe the words I used didn't bring the best results.
Sub, nice program. Once I get the bugs worked out, I'll throw some donations your way ;-)
Athlon 2100XP, 512mb ram, WinDVD (I assume the codec is then intervideo), 60gb harddrive, Win XP pro SP2, MediaPlayer 10.
PLAYBACK: video decoder = intervideo, audio decoder and audio renderer = system default, VMR( enabled
MISC: live preview mode checked, return from timeshift mode enabled with pass through enabled, DBA multiplexer = microsoft DVR-MS
