I am using a WinTV PVRUSB2 with remote and DishTV 311 STB. When I try to change channels with gbpvr I get the message:

HCWIRblast.dll not found

I have tried to reinstall the drivers from the installation disk and nothing changes.

I also get the message:

Object reference not set to an instance of and object after I close the above error message.

Can anyone Help?

What is the "channel changer" set to for your capture source?

It looks sounds like you're trying to use the Hauppauge IR Blaster, but this is only included with the retail version of the PVR150, not the WinTV PVR USB2 that you have.

The WinTV PVR USB2 doesnt come with an IR Blaster, so I'd suggest setting it to 'none'.

If you've got bought USB-UIRT or other IR Blaster, then you can select these options, otherwise you'll need to stick to 'none'.

Thanks for the help, its really frustrating after spending 3 days trying to get this PVR thing to work properly and it still doesnt work right.

I reset the settings but still no channel changes and still get the second error message........Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Does this mean I won't be able to change channels unless I get USB-UIRT or other IR blaster? Or can I use a HIP program to change the channels?

If you zip and attach your logs, I'm happy to take a look and tell you what is causing this.

Thats correct. There is no way GB-PVR (or any other software) can control your DishTV box without an IR Blaster.

An IR Blaster is a physical piece of hardware that sends InfraRed signals to your set top box to tell it to change channels. No software is going to do this for you by magic - you'd need the hardware that goes with it.

I thought the Ir Blaster was the infrared box used for the remote control unit...but I guess not. Thanks for clearing that up. Here are my log files.

I've never yet come across a user that has bought this, but if you got the WinTV PVR USB2 MCE Kit, and not the standard WinTV PVR USB2, then it comes with an MCE remote and its related IR Blaster. See the pictures below.

The standard PVR USB2: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/...rusb2.html
The MCE Kit version: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/...cekit.html

The MCE kit version will probably be usable via HIP to control your set top box.

I do have the MCE kit, so I will download the HIP and see if I can get it to work.

Thanks for the input. Your website is great!
