I was wondering if there is a way to have gbpvr reduce the sound when a commercial comes on? If I'm not using comskip.

Not sure, but ffdshow does a lot of things. Maybe it has something like that?

I requested something similar a while ago (adding compression to audio so the adverts wouldn't be louder than the programme). I was pointed in the direction of using ffdshow (with a compression plugin?).

Never got around to trying it as I have since discovered commercial skipping via comskip/showanalyzer

ffdshow

Not sure about the plugin but I've seen a post referring to a normalization setting here, maybe ffdshow would support a directx or wmp plugin?

FFDShow is a directshow-filter. If you have it installed, and selected in GBPVR-config-playback-tab (ffdshow postprocessing). Then you configure ffdshow to normalize the volume, I even think it's a default setting in ffdshow. I don't know if it works though:confused:

dflipb, did you try the audio normalization? Did it work well? Did you try it on live and recorded programs?
