Hi Sub,

I've been trying to get sixgun's MpegImport utility to properly recognize the metadata stored in my NTFS when it imports stuff...

If you recall we had a problem with the filenames in Hebrew because the resulting XML didn't have the correct header with windows-1255 charset.

However, all of the metadata that we read from the disk is all converted to ??????s. And I noticed it has no header line at all. I am wondering if this is maybe the source of the problem.

Is there any chance that GBPVR writes the metadata wihtout the header and so it gets converted to ???s ?

Thanks,

GGF

Yes, right you are. I've added the UTF-8 header for the next release.

I have been working on getting MpegImport to work with any characterset (with the help of GoodGuys).

I actually use

Code:
Encoding.GetEncoding(0);

and that seems to get the text encoding for the local system.

Regards.

Thanks Sub!

Any kludge for current release, maybe?

Other than you manually opening the metadata and adding the header...no.

Does the lack of header mean that the Hebrew characters have been converted to question-marks prior to being written into the metadata, or is the Hebrew in there somewhere and I need some special access method to get to it and manually add the header?

Thanks,

GGF

I would have assumed they were written ok, but unable to read as an XML document because the system default encoding type. Of course this is only a guess, and certainly not something I've tried.

If you cant read it in notepad, then its been written incorrectly.

Hmmm... Would you know how I might be able to read them properly, or how to append the header in-place (i.e. without reading - prefixing - writing)?

Thanks,

GGF

One more question - how does GBPVR handle multiple <sub-title> elements in the XML file?

Thanks,

You'd probably have to do that.

Do you mean in an XMLTV file? If there are multiple, I think it'll probably only keep the last one.
