Hello all,

Just trying to get my first pvr setup. First and foremost my specs:

WinXP Pro SP2, 2.4GHZ P4, 1 GB RAM, 40GB HDD
GBR 09707 (latest version as of today)
Raedon 9000 w/ s-video tv out
PVR500 Hauppauge MCE
Dish Network STB - USA

O.k., so for now just trying to get one of the two tuners on the pvr500 working.
I have recorded sound successfully and that is about it, although the file size would indicate video was also recorded. However, I can't playback the recorded file, using GBPVR or Media Player 10, more specifically I only hear the audio, no video.

I have composite (r,w,y) from pvr 500 going into STB DishNetwork composite.
Now my Dish STB has coaxial in from satellite dish, which connect to t.v. coaxial in from atenna. I won't mention s-video tv-out right now, as I can not even playback on my PC with WM10.

p.s. GBPVR recognises both PVR500 tuners during config (ie. show only recognized cards option). I have also installed latest drivers for pvr. (btw, should use pvr 150 or pvr 500 drivers, or are the one in the same?)

Do I have wires connected wrong?

Thanks.

Do you have some video codecs in your rig? Windows Media Player v10 likes to have some decoders on hand to view video - at least mine does. You should be able to find some here: http://www.free-codecs.com/ if you didn't install any from the Hauppauge CD.

The recorded file played fine on my other machine w/ WM9 ??? Doesn't make sense that WM10 wouldn't play. I must have more codecs on my machine w/ WM9, I'll use gspot to find out what I need.

Thx for the reply.

Edit:

For anyone else w/ problems: The computer that playback worked on had Nero video decoder installed. I'll install on my GBPVR system to resolve issues w/ playback.

Windows doesnt ship with an MPEG2 decoder, which is most likely what you're missing.
