Is there a reason it would update very intermittenly, and not running the radar loop?

I have the most recent version (that I know of), and I haven't started using 97 yet, so it's not related to that.

The log files indicated it could not find radar images and such. The site may have changed and is causing the plugin some fits. I am using 97.7.

I haven't tried it since then (about 10hrs ago).

I installed the weather plugin today and it works a treat on 97. The question I have is that as I live in the UK I would like to get the weather from a UK source rather than MSNBC as that only offers me London. Doing a search on the web for xml feeds I found an ID for Brighton and that works OK as well, but ID's for closer areas don't seem to be able to get data. Can anyone help?

It finds them, and if I hit play, it will manually roll it (and sometimes errror if I hold too long). It's something else at work here (still using 96)

I was able to get the weather plugin to work with forecasts for Abingdon and Oxford in the UK. In Weather.MSN.COM simply enter the name of the town in the UK you want followed by UK. For example:

Oxford UK

gave me a list of possibilities, the second option was the correct entry and a code of:

UKXX0106

The only problem I can not solve is getting the temperature to come up in Celsius rather than Fahrenheit. I manually edited the Config.XML which does change the Weather temperature symbols from being *F to *C however it still gives the Farenheit temperature so at the moment it thinks it is 50*C Cool

Looking at the weather coding on MSN site when you switch to Celsius on there it adds the following to the end of the web address:

UKXX0106&setunit=C

My question here is to the developer of the plugin as to whether the DLL can be re-programmed to append that &setunit=C or &setunit=F according to your particular need?

Oh and to say thank you. I have only today started to work my way through the app and it's plugins. 5 hours non stop (only pausing to catch up with Lost on the tv) Wink

Superb and thanks to everyone involved. I hope some day I will start doing some plugins etc but for now I will walk before I run. If anyone can help with the Weather thing that would be ace cheers.

I haven't uninstalled...it just started acting a little funny lately. I checked off "show current as task" and "display on VA panel" (even though I don't use it) and the loop seems to work again (or at the moment), but it hadn't updated in a while (over an hour). It's set to do it every 15, and worked fine when I did in manually.

Like I said, just odd behavior.

tipstir Wrote:Capone, you say you uninstalled GBPVR when you do that do you.

1. Un-install GBPVR
2. Delete the devnz folder
3. Clean the registry using a freeware reg cleaner
4. Install a fresh copy of GBPVR.

Before I do 1 I backup the folder onto another drive.

So far weather hasn't given me much trouble but I've notice that .NET 2.0 and .NET 1.1 has some sort of positioning problems. Otherwise the radar works in both 96.12 and 97.7.

That is what it is supposed to do when you set the Use SI units choice in the config app. I don't know why it doesn't always work.

msnbc only updates the weather every few hours I think, if that. So, if you refresh every 15 minutes most times you will get the same radar shots as the last you refreshed. The only adavatgae of polling quickly is that when the images do change you will get them fairly quickly. Since polling chews up CPU cycles, I now do it every few hours myself.

I have the same problem. In GBPVR, it currently says that it is 86*C. Sad I know it was a hot day, but let's be realistic. The web site reports everything correctly. Maybe the URL that the plugin uses has changed for *C.

Hey, just to update, I found out the problem w/ the animating.

I usually check the weather while we're watching something, and I pause so the wife can go to the bathroom. I noticed the other day it workign fine again when I just checked it while doing nothing else.

So it turns out going to weather via putting what you're watching in the menu screen keeps the map from animating.
