In the past when I wanted keep a show I would edit out the ads. I would open my editor program point to my show the HDD would grind for about 5min then the mpg would show up in the editor. This would happen with any show that I recorded with GBPVR. The other night the recording computer was not powered on and I missed LOST so with 10min to spare I dragged the comp into the living room. And hooked the cable boxes SVHS and audio out to the PVR-150's input. I
used wintv2000 set it to DVD high quality 12mbps hit record and went to bed. Well in the morning I stopped the recorder the file was 36.5gigs. I opened the editor pointed it to my 36gig file and it opened in the editor window INSTANTLY!
I shut down the editor and re-launched it and pointed it to a 30min show that GBPVR recorded and it took 5min to get it to show up in the editor window. I am not bitching about GBPVR just wondering if GBPVR creates MPG's differently than wintv2000.

Not that I know of. I just write every byte that comes out of the Hauppauge encoder to disk verbatim.

Hmm I am running two PVR-150's one is the MCE edition which is set as capture device #2 in gbpvr. When I did the emergency record off the cable box I used the MCE card after telling windows to disable card #1 in device manager. As I never tested the MCE's cards AV inputs. As I said before I am not bitching just being nosey.
