ATI has now released their avivo compressor as a seperate download..

you don't have to install it to upgrade...almost all the functions are inside a couple of dlls...atidvcr.dll and atixcode.dll..
just extract those from the new upgrade and replace your existing ones and you'll have the new upgrade..should work for future releases as well..
[note,they say it's ONLY for ATI X1xxx cards but it works great on my Nvidia card too! lol] X1000 users will see accelerated x.264 encoding..rest is same..
they've been putting all the codecs into those files for many years now..surprised noone's noticed till now...
it is by FAR the fastest software compression available today..i can't find anything that even comes close..ffmpeg looks a bit better but avivo does it in less than half the time!
and with so many output formats available..very usefull..[psp,ipod,avi,mpeg]
there's a link on the boards here where to get the original install...then update with the dll's...
