HIP won't learn from USB-UIRT

I am missing something simple but cannot see what it is
I have USBUIRT and HIP and it works fine to control GB-PVR with my MCE remote.
However I cannot get HIP to learn the remote codes for my STB. If I go to output in HIP configuration, select the ir transmitter for the STB, then press 'Add IR' I get nowhere. No screen comes up saying have I got a file to load and so on just the learning screen, but when I send from STB IR to the USBUIRT the red light flickers but HIP seems to see nothing
This must be something basic I an doing wrong ... but I cannot see what

You may have to raise this issue with the author of HIP - as it isnt a component of GBPVR which Sub can code / control.

Is there a HIP forum?
