Somewhere my MVP stopped skipping commercials automatically. On the computer it reads the Comskip files and auto skips the commercials, and I see the commercials time on the timeline.

On my MVP, timeline is one color, plays through the commercials. I don't know when this happened because my MVP was disconnected for a while.

Any ideas??

I am also experiencing a problem with commercial skipping on the MVP.

Mine seems a little different then yours though. The commercial sections actually show up in the green bar but the MVP just ignores them. It neither skips them automatically nor does it jump forward when I press PLAY when the indicator is in a marked commercial section.

I have been able to get it to work some times by stopping the playback and then resuming it. This isn't 100% of the time.

The commercial skip files are being created and the data is correct. I didn't have any problems with commercial skipping previous to the builds that changed to .net 2.0.

Also I haven't had a chance to see if this is isolated to MVP playback or if it also happens on the GBPVR box. Mine is headless. I will connect a monitor tonight and see what happens with playback on the box itself.

Sub,
Is this something that might be identified in one of the logs, and if so what log should I check out?

Thanks,

TipSter,

Thanks for the reply, but I don't have any issues with the creation of comskip files as I said in my previous post.

The problem is that GBPVR does not respond appropriately to the marked commercial segments when a recording is played back on the MVP.

With automatic commercial skipping turned on the MVP should skip over the marked commercial segments.

With automatic skipping turned off, when the timeline marker is in a marked commercial segment, I should be able to press PLAY and it should skip to the end of the marked segment.

Neither of these 2 things are happening, or I should say they happen intermittently from one playback session to the next.

Later,

I've seen this myself. I use a combination of the standard recordings and Xrecord. I find that I never have issues when using xrecord to play, but I do have issues when using the standard recordings to play. As you said, I see that the commercial skip point are present as well. I realise this is not a solution unless you use xrecord, but it may help find the issue.

my comskip is 79.26. It does work fine on the computer, just not the MVP.
I have restarted the computer and MVP several times, still no commercial skipping. I am using the default Recordings, maybe I will put Xrecord on and see if it skips with that!

Just did some more playing, went through att the dongle.bin files, no difference. Then I noticed the timeline says the file is only 1 sec long, but it plays fine, and has the correct length/skips commercials on the computer.

I've tried to reproduce this here, but it seems to be working fine.

This will be the cause of your problem. If you're a PVR150 user, you're probably seeing the timestamp issue. If so, you'll need to install the updated drivers and the timestamp fix registry settings.

I believe I have the latest drivers from Hauppauge installed, or should I look for newer drivers at shspvr.com??

Did you read the sticky thread on the PVR150 timestamp issue? http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14006

You need to be using the those drivers or newer, add couple of registry settings, then reboot,
