Rainbow Flashes

Hey guys it was wierd tonight,
I go to watch Mythbusters and I found out that it is rainbow colors and there flashing. Heres the catch it will stop for a minute or so and be okay. Right before it starts up again there is like video distortion. Heres the other huge catch....Its only on this one channel lol. Heres a screenshot of the rainbow colors.

I got a similair effect, but a purple colour through either a pvr-150 or a 350.
It was only the one channel too, and only at certain times.

Sub advised he saw a similair thing, but after fiddling with the aerial it went away. Ive just moved house and my purple distortion has also gone, so it might be worth having a play with your aerial.

I had this myself sometime ago it was down to the driver and it not initalising correctly on start up and hibernation on the usb pvr2. I changed drivers and told windows not to allow the card to turn off when hibernating.

I get this too - any recording I do on Sky Sport from our UHF Sky decoder I get this on. Only for the 1st 2 or 3 seconds though. Then the colour comes up and its fine from then on. I've always suspected its some sort of fine auto tuning of the tuner in the PVR500 card as I've set the tuner to cable rather than air due to an issue with the NZ Tuner settings in MS Windows and maybe the freq is just a tiny bit out. Maybe you have a similar issue with that channel and occaisional reception issue throw out the fine tuning. Does anyone know if these cards do auto fine-tune?

I see this occasionally on Directv sattelite both in recordings and at the output of the Directv STB I record from. One channel more frequently than others. I think it is related to S-video inputs / outputs. Have not seen it on composite.

I'd check for bad cables or connectors.

That rainbow effect is apparent on my 150, too. To me it looks like a fine tuning phenomenon. I get it for about 1 sec, only, now when first running LiveTV and it is unperceptible when changing channels. It used to be worse than this but my channels select and change much quicker with the additional indices sub added to the sql database.
