Hi all, sorry for the newbie question.
I've recently setup gbpvr on a freeview tuner card and am quite impressed so far.
I understand there are a couple of options for filling the EPG data.

1. From the freeview broadcast
2. From bleb
3. From xmltv

I've tried the freeview broadcast but this appears to be slow, intermittant and sometimes misses entire channels out (could be my signal strenth).
I've also tried bleb, but found that I cant populate all the channels.
I haven't trued xmltv yet and am not sure fully how to do this, but it seems so far that I dont have a perfect way to populate all the EPG data for my freeview channels.

Has anyone posted a guide on how to get the best data into their EPG ?

Thanks in advance,
Juice.

Are you in the US? Most of use zap2it.com and it works great. Supported nativley in GB-PVR as well.

sounds like you're in the UK. You're in luck, theres a little program that will do all the legwork for you.

You'll find it here:
http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/

Its fairly self-explanatry if you spend some time looking through the website and the associated wiki. once youve got it cracked, run the program via your updateepg.bat to generate a fresh xml download, and point your GBPVR config at the file. job done...

I basically agree with you on all your points, but I'm just going to stick up for the freeview guide for a second...

To improve it's performance make sure that EPG complete reload is unchecked (as it advises you to do anyway) then go into the config file (e.g. open config.xml with notepad) and search (ctrl+F) for dvbepgharvestduration and increase this so that GBPVR scans the airwaves for a bit longer when capturing the EPG. I currently have it set to 100, but you may want to start out with it even a bit higher (180?) if you have a completely empty guide, and then reduce it again after a few days once the guide is a bit more complete.
Finally the guide will improve over time, you'll spend the first week maybe with some gaps, but mines been full and complete ever since.

It's upto you in the end what you use, there are pro's to each way, I just like the fact that once it's going there's no extra fiddling or config needed ever, and it's kind of self contained - no need for an internet connection- if you can get TV you can get the guide too.
