Two recordings were scheduled for tonight, both started and stopped after a few minutes. It's the forth complete install I've made since last monday and all fell with almost the same result. Some recordings seem stopping randomly, others stops after hours (9 hours recording).
If it could help I attached my evening log were both recording have stopped after three and four minutes. Looking into Now Recording files they are still in the recording state.
I even tried to stop one of them nothing happened still both in recording state.

My wife went to cleanup his old tape recorder (help!) Wink

If digital recordings stop mid way through, its usually something gone wrong in the mux filter. This can sometimes be triggered by loss of signal lock. The Microsoft dvr-ms mux seems the most tolerant to these sorts of problems.

OK Sub you are probably right but why does it happen only with 97.9?
I tried both Intervideo and Cyberlink muxers with almost the same results. All went stopped.
It seems happening if I concurrently watch a recorded program while the two recordings are running but not always in the same manner.
Thanks for the quick reply

I dont know. Coincidence? I'm not seeing a pattern of posts indicating this as a general problem with v0.97.9. There has always been users with occasional problems like these - long before the v97.

96.12 was the best I've seen only a few minor bugs. Probably porting to .NET 2.0 or even 2.0 itself got these kind of problem never arisen.
Reading logs even if they are apparently clean I've found that around the time of stopping record nothing is logged. I'll try to get more info in the XP logs.
I'll continue to investigate and post if it's something relevant in the logs.

I would like to add some further detail to this. I have also been experiencing failed recordings since upgrading to 97.9. Last night, my recording of Dr Who was interrupted by interference, the result of which was that the recording failed to terminate. Clicking on the recording status shows that it is still recording the program even though actual recording has finished. The recording that followed Dr Who ran for only 15 mins or so then died. The logs also died after starting this recording. The only way to clear this is to restart the recording service.

The PC is a dedicated minimum install for GBPVR with no virus scanners etc. I have two NovaT cards and use the ShowShifter MUX. The machine functioned fine on the previous version of GBPVR, I updated for the new features.

Here is an extract of the logs

For more convenience I've attached the logs.

OK, now I've figured out where the bug is.
Removing Comskip from being executed all seems going right.
The last releases of Comskip were installed. Now I try an older one.
Before sleeping I'll test a few minutes long then I'll write the result tomorrow night since my company's IT "clever" people have banned GBPVR site marking it as MP3!
^^^^^^^^^^
With Comskip v. 77 seems working
I don't know if it will record all scheduled programs but seems working since I could delete the recording and restart it again without any problem.
Comskip releases installed before were 79_45 and 79_46.
^^^^^^^^^^
Wrong v. 77 behave as the other.
I think is better go sleeping now

Just to take track of what I'm doing.
Yesterday night I convinced my wife I'd to find the reason why recordings fail and I installed back 97.9. It was a clean installation. After a 97.9 release was installed I immediately tried, without any plugin installed.
I set up two recordings and after ten minutes I checked if recordings were still on by playing what recorded. They were!
Then I waited two more minutes and checked again. Both were stopped!
Tried to delete them, no error, but no success.
Stut down.
What this evening:
Downloaded last 25c Hauppage drivers
Prepared a new XP SP2 installation disk (hope it'll work)
Start a new installation from scratch
Cross my fingers (what we use to say in Italian)
Will it work?

I forgot to say that yesterday night I also applied the patch as suggested in http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=17182&page=3
