sony viao name has been used more than once you need to find out what card you have in there first before we can answer that.

To find out go to:

Control Panel->System
Click on the "Hardware" Tab
Click "Device Manager"

It should be listed under "Sound, Video and game controllers"

Dear all

I have a sony vaio too (PCV-V1/G)
Under Sound, video and game controllers I have the following

1)audio codecs
2)Legacy audio drivers
3)Legacy video capture devices
4)Media controller devices
5)Sony MPEG RealTime encoder board
6)SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
7)Video codecs

which of those tells me what card I have?

Many thanks

Number 5 looks like your TV card, but unless it has a required hardware MPEG2 encoder it wont work.

Same card?

Many thanks for your reply McBainUK.
It looks like I am stuck with this stupid giga pocket.
I know this is GB-PVR forum but, could anybody kindly direct me to an alternative for this stupid giga pocket?

Although GB-PVR looks great and would have enjoy its use, it didn't do it for me because of this stupid giga pocket card.

Regards

You may want to take a look at the SoftwareRecorder plugin for GBPVR (never used it myself)
