For those who didn't already know - like me
Just thought I'd post this for all MCE remote users, since I'd been struggling with HIP and IR blasters etc trying to solve a simple problem - adjusting volume on my AC3 receiver.
What I didn't know was that the MCE remote is programmable. You can teach it the commands from your receiver remote to adjust volume, and can teach it the power on/off from your TV remote as well.
The instructions are on page 7 of the manual (I don't believe I got a manual - so I downloaded one : http://oem.microsoft.com/static/Worldwid...Manual.pdf )
anyway - who reads a manual? especially a microsoft one? The first 100 pages are legalese.
If you can't download the manual, basically, hold down DVD MENU and OK together until the lights go off. Then press Vol+. Then aim your receiver remote at the MCE remote, and push Vol+ on that remote. Lights on MCE remote should blink twice. Done. repeat for other buttons.
