This is a simple webapp for controling GB-PVR through HIP ( http://www.byremote.com.au/HIP/Default.htm ) from an iPhone or iPod Touch.

It requires iphone-universal ( http://code.google.com/p/iphone-universal/ ), and the webserver to be turned on in HIP (File, Preferences.., Hip Web Server). Don't let the HIP web server be open to access from outside your network!

When the iphone-universal file has been extracted, we need to copy the (iphone-universal)\image folder to this location ..\HIP\http\UiUIKit-images
We need to copy the file (iphone-universal)\stylesheets\iphone.css to ..\HIP\http\stylesheets\iphone.css
The file (gbpvr.htm) should be placed in ..\HIP\http\gbpvr.htm
The icon (gbpvr_webapp_icon.png) should be placed in ..\HIP\http\gbpvr_webapp_icon.png

Now we need to edit the file (gbpvr.htm) to make it work on your system.
Do a search and replace on these strings (replace them with the urls to your system):
"http://192.168.1.4:81/gbpvr/Guide.aspx" is the GB-PVR EWA interface (if you don't use it, then you don't have to change it).
"192.168.1.4:11000" is the HIP web server.

It should all be working now, just type http://URL_TO_HIP_WEB_SERVER/gbpvr.htm in your browser.

You can now click the + button in Safari on your iPhone/iPod Touch and add it to your Home screen.

The html code is be pretty simple, so feel free to edit it Smile

I've often thought I'd be tempted to get an iPod touch if there was an app to control GBPVR, but the sort of thing I was thinking of was more along the lines of replicating the functions like TV Guide, Music Library and stuff like that. Stuff I might potentially want to access without turning the TV on. Always thought it'd be cool to be able to control music from GBPVR going to the amp with the TV off (especially during parties).

Music in GBPVR is not that great to control. Just put music on is a lot of work. Making playlists etc. is nearly impossible with a hauppauge remote. I plugged in a airport express which is connected to my stereo. I run iTunes on a PC somewhere in the network (i don't like the program but you have to with an apple gadget). The nice thing is that you can now control your iTunes from your iPod/iPhone. Not only from mine but also from multiple iPods. You can even install guest access so guests can fill your playlist with their iPod/iPhone. Very nice feature and not beaten yet. Why? It is the easiest way to control your music.

The basic music library in GBPVR is fine, although the ability to queue up music would be nice. I can't stand playlists files or databased music and prefer to just use folders and WMP's "Add to Now Playing" feature.

You can basically do everything I need using VNC on the iPod Touch to connect to my GBPVR server, but a dedicated interface would be faster and neater.

I agree. The basic feature is good enough. I also miss the feature to queue up music. I miss the genre, album, etc. I know of Music plugins in GBPVR. I tried them and will continue to do so in the future. But until now I find it to hard to simply put on some music. I have a MVP and my GBPVR server is somewhere else in the house so control with VNC is not an option for me...

Playlist is something you like or don't. The nice thing of my solution is that airport express if wireless. So I do not have to turn on the TV. I can allways control my music whenever I'm in range of my WiFi. You basicly control the iTunes on a PC but with a native app. Extra nice is that you can install active speakers (basic PC speakers) everywhere in the house and also connect them to a aiport. I know very expensive :-) but it is possible. In the app you can select which speakerset you want on or of. Airport is also a accespoint for Wifi.

The interface on my iPhone with touchscreen is very nice. I also like the initiative for a iPhone solution for GBPVR. Native is nice but I don't think the combi iPhone and GBPVR is wide spread enough although I'm not sure... ;-)

I too use an airport express with ipod touch for music now. It is really slick.

I do think it would be great to have a dedicated iphone/ipod touch app for managing recordings though. I think the new web service interface for that was recently added to web admin is a building block for such an app. I am just wait for somebody to write it and put it on the app store. Smile

The remote application that started this thread is probably nice for people with their GBPVR in their living room. I use GBPVR as server for my popcorn hour client, so I don't really have use for the remote app.

There's also the app from melloware which I've been using. (Iphone app is free but requires the PC software which is $24.)

I love the keyboard and especially the mousepad feature it has. Took a while for me to map the buttons but the developer now includes my mappings with the app.

(sorry for the big screenshots but that's how they are on the website)

IR Server Suite also has a web remote you can access once you load up the virtual remote, I believe its on port 2481. Its also skinnable, I've been meaning to put together a skin something like whurlston posted above, just haven't gotten around to it. For now the Hauppauge skin works well enough for me when I need it.

IR Server Suite documentation is here: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/ir-ser...ion-26837/
