Recordings: files are saved as read-only?

Any idea why all my recordings, using the default GBPVR Recordings applet, are created as read-only files on my XP machine? This seems to prevent GB from deleting recordings (e.g I config a reoccurring recording of a TV show, and set the "Keep" count to 15, yet more than 15 shows are kept).

Must be something simple that I'm not thinking of Smile

TIA,

-Mike

No, they're not created as read only. I've not heard any other reports of problems with this.

But somebody has to be the first to report a specific problem, right Smile

More info: I am using GBPVR v0.95.16, a Hauppauge PVR-150. Files are being recorded onto a local HDD. I also use Beyond TV and Beyond Media, installed on another PC, to view recordings made by GB.

Is there any log file I can look at that would show info about problems GB encountered when trying to delete recordings (e.g when Keep count is exceeeded)?

True, but usually if we're this far into a release before a user points out a problem like this, its a pretty good indication that its something funny they've done rather a bug in the app. Never say never though.

Is it just the keep count? Can you delete a recording from the Recordings screen?

I cannot even delete a recording from the Recordings screen. UNLESS I modify the series folder by unchecking the Read-Only attribute on the properties screen for the folder. Or I could clear the read-only attribute at the file level.

The odd thing is that if I delete the entire folder for the series, the next time GB records an episode it creates a read-only file. I must say I am confused about read-only attributes for folders, as just about all folders on my XP machine's local HDDs show a light grey colored checkmark next to read-only checkbox.

I am also probably rather unique in that my XP machine is a member of a domain. Most everybody else is probably set for workgroup...

Just a hunch, but I just changed the GB Recording service to run under my username as opposed to Local System account. I suspect the problem is at the recording level. Will let you know the results...

Changing the GB Recording service to run as a local user account did not help - in fact it caused GB to report a missing or corrupted folder...

Has anybody ever notice that Win XP shows a checkmark next to Read-Only for every folder on your PC? Seems like bug to me...

Thats really bizarre.

Can you reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your logs?

I have a reoccurring recording going on right now (1pm - 2pm EST). I checked the file for this recording and is is not currently read-only. I am going to keep an eye on it and see if it changes around 2pm when it's finished...

What is the best way to clear the logs so you do not have to hunt thru lots of stuff? Or do the logs get emptied when GB is stopped/restarted? I like to have them empty, then try to delete a recorded file...
