Skinning the News Reader for Plain Jane.

As you see below, I've started with just the text output. I'll create a partially transparent layer in Photoshop Elements of this screen. Then I'll draw Plain Jane's eight different skins underneath the text layout.

While this technique is not recommended for the end user (see Appearance Manager), it is pretty convenient for a graphics artist (or posers, like me).

The News plug-in and the Theater Listings plug-in have been modified for Plain Jane to support the ForgroundTransparency setting in their skin.xml files.

This means no semi-transparent popups.

BTW, the Theater Listings skin.xml has the <ButtonLocationElement> tag in the <Navigation> section but the plug-in code is looking for it in the <SpecialElements> section.

Isn't that the default for News Layout? I've decided to go a different way I didn't like the fact everything was dumped to the right of the screen. Up and down method looked better to me as I'll show below:

Did you see the post about the Theater Listing's buttons?

No I didn't see the Theater Listings buttons, I'll take a look for the next release after this week or two.. Thanks for the head up
