This is the support thread for AddEpisode.

AddEpisode is a file renaming utility for use with the sqlite database. Used properly, it will rename the recorded file to be more friendly for browsing in windows explorer. The default operation will rename the file to the format: “Show Name - Episode Name” (as well as renaming the comskip files if they exist). If the episode name does not exist, the file will be renamed to this format: “Show Name - Date”. See the included help file or the wiki page for more information.

It can be downloaded here.

Please post any bugs or suggestions here, and I will do my best to help.

Thanks again for a great utility. I'm having a problem with the latest version though.
I've tried with 2 recordings so far (both have subtitles) and when postprocessing.bat (with line "addepisode.exe %1 -log") is run I get a small window popup with just the word "here" in it. Once I press OK on this then the file is renamed OK and there is just the confirmation tht it worked correctly in the log. Has a bit of residual debug code been left in or am I doing something wrong?

thanks again

Thanks, works great now.
As an aside I was thinking it would be nice to have the option for dd-mm-yyyy date format (which I see you use for the "numbers" section on the wiki). Not imperative but if you get bored Smile

you should keep your insulting comments to yourself, you didn't even bother to read what was posted. when addepisode ran on an episode it popped up a window that said 'here'. thus the screenshot i posted with my last message. you are rude and should learn some manners.

turkey - thank you for this tool. i hope you didn't mind that we posted the 'bug', i thought that was what you wanted..

Probably a silly question, but can this also be run on existing recordings - i.e. outside of postprocessing.bat? If so, please could you give me a pointer on how to do it (I have whole directories full of recorings that I would love to rename)

Thanks

Yes, but only if those recordings are still in the gbpvr database. Also, i didn't write it with this in mind, so you'll have to do a little work.

Go to the windows start menu, and click on run. type cmd, and press enter. navigate to the gbpvr directory (type in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr or whatever gbpvr is in on your computer) Then you will have to type in:

addepisode.exe "[full path and name of individual video file, including the extention]"

for example, I would type in this line:

addepisode.exe "C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Video\The Daily Show With Jon Stewart_12341234_12341234.mpg"

You will have to do that with every file, as I didn't write it to rename a whole batch of files at once.

Let me know if that works for you.
