1) It seems that at times, my audio lags a half second or second behind live TV. Sometimes I can exit out of LiveTV to the main menu and back into LiveTV and it will go away. Others times it will not. Sometimes it shows up after I flip the through channels and sometimes it doesn't. Its very odd, I have tried using a different audio decoder than "system default" and this does not seem to help either. It was happening last night around 6-7pm when my wife was watching "Entertainment Tonight" and "Home Improvement". Although time of day and the show does not seem to affect it.

2) The second issue, is my OSD has disappeared while I am watching TV or watching a recording. I used to be able to move the mouse and it would show up (live or recorded) or hit the pause button and it would come up in live or recorded. It no longer does this, I don't believe that I changed anything in the config that would affect it either. Use "Minimal On Screen Display" is not checked in the config either.

I appreciate all thoughts, comments and help. Wife spilled water on the remote for the digital cable box and it won't work now. Sad But this has FORCED her to use the GB-PVR box, and the WAF has risen significantly in the past couple days. Big Grin With these minor issues fixed, I think it would peg the WAF meter!

Logs attached if anyone needs them.

Edit: I have attached the config.xml in case it is need as well. Thanks!

have you got FFDSHOW installed? My lipsync issues mostly went away when I completely removed it (not just deselected it).

I don't think so... I don't remember "installing" it, unless it comes with GB-PVR?

It will show up seperately in add/remove programs if you do have it installed.

I had exactly your issue and tried everything to try and sort it out. To be honest I can't remember exactly what had the most effect, but my config now look like this:

Video decoder: system default (changing this didn't seem to help)
Audio decoder: AC3 filter (this I think helped a bit)
Audio renderer: system default (I think changing this made things worse)
Playback: VMR9 (the VMR9 custom renderer also gave me some problems)

Removed FFDSHOW (helped a lot!) and I changed from the MS mux (dvr-ms) to the cyberlink one (mpeg) (think this also helped a bit).

I've also noticed that sometimes the sync can be affected by background apps using up processor time, so I try and keep my GBPVR box clean of any other programs (firewalls, spyware checkers, etc.) or even GBPVR background processes such as reencoding or EPG update (I time these for when I'm away from the box)

Finally I do still get some issues on playback if I do a lot of stop/playing, but this normally goes again if I do a short skip forward or back.

It's still not perfect all the time, but at least it's not totally annoying anymore....

This will be because you're using the Cyberlink Decoder with VMR9. By default this decoder is not compatible with VMR unless you add some Cyberlink registry settings. Google for 'Cyberlink EnableVMR9'

Thanks, I will give that try, I believe below is the registry settings you are talking about.

dvbviewer.com/forum Wrote:add the following dword values to registry
HKLM/Software/Cyberlink/Common/CLVSD/EnableVMR=1 and EnableVMR9=1
if does not work then add here to
HKCU/Software/Cyberlink/Common/CLVSD
This works fine with Cyberlink powerdvd5, I think should work with V4 to.

My video decoder is set to "Nero Video Decoder", was the Cyberlink taking over? Shall I try VMR7 or is VMR9 that much better quality? Should I uninstall Cyberlink Power DVD and install a decoder other than the Nero?

Here is the current config of the "playback" tab:

Here is what I will try tonight to kill the audio lag:

Which audio renderer should I use?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help in sorting out the little "kinks". Smile

Yes. I'm not sure why it wasnt using it, but honestly, I wouldnt bother trying to use the Nero decoder. Very few people here are using it.

Well that makes sense, the Cyberlink was taking over. I appreciate the help will give the registry settings a try to night. Smile

Do you suggest any decoders that are better than the Cyberlink?

Thanks again sub!

Sorry, I hate that question. I think the Cyberlink ones are pretty good.
