Hey All,

I'm curious to know who knows about configuring onboard graphics card via the bios, and in particular the VIA 4in1 setup.

Since installing links 2003 I have discovered that Direct 3D does not always work and after rebooting my machine it eventually does. So i installed all the latest drivers, etc. and this still did not solve the problem. So I resorted to playing with the bios settings like all good engineers should do.

And I then discovered lots of settings. I could change the AGP setting, the amount of shared memory and a few other things of which I know nothing about. But by playing with these setting its seems to have resolved my problem s with Direct 3D sometimes working/sometime not working.

I'm also curious will this help resolve the occasional freezing I get in GB-PVR when watching live-TV (which i do believe is not Sub's problem but my hardware configuration).

Anyway just curious to know if anyone here knows about these things and share some light on the subject,

Cheers,
Colin.

Running the latest 4-in-1 drivers on a Soyo K7VME, no issues. However I'm running a PVR350 for the TV-Out. Sometimes livetv, or the recordings just go to a black screen, I just shutdown GB-PVR and start it back up and it's fine.

The joy of so many variations in hardware. I think i'll just blame Microsoft, everyone else does! But more importantly I've figure out a way to be able to play Links which requires at most 1 reboot.

Cheers,
Colin.

Yeah, wish I could help, there's not a lot of bios settings for the onboard video on this mobo. I went and picked up a cheap video card for it anyway because I wanted TV-Out (there was no TV-Out on the onboard video) and I just turned off the onboard video in the bios.

I reckon its a driver issue with hibernation mode as I put my machine to sleep all the time. But of course is it a VIA driver issue or is it an issue with how windows is waking up all devices? It will do until i eventually buy a new graphics card,

cheers,
Colin.

If it helps I also run/ran all the latest drivers off viaarena.com for my board too, onboard audio onboard video etc. The video drivers from them worked fine while I ran them. Replaced the card with a cheap NVidia card after reading much debate about the TV-Out on NV vs. ATI, it just came down to finding a cheap price on an NV card and going with it.
