Anyone know of any good mobile phone forums? By 'good' I mean they don't shoot down newbies for no reason, and not frequented by sms speaking 8 year olds.

Reason I ask is that I have a Sony Erricson k750, and would like an easier way way of creating playlists, pref on the the PC before transfer to the phone.

McBainUK,

How is that K750? My wife has a K700i (bought it unlocked in Croatia and we were able to activate it here in the US on TMobile), but it has been being weird lately, so I was thinking of getting her a new phone and she loves the Sony-Ericsson phones. I have never seen one of those K series until hers (we don't get the cool phones like that here in the US) and I was actually a bit jealous that her phone is better than mine (Samsung i730) lol.

Thanks

Brian

Quite pleased with it. Plays MP3, takes decent 2MP photos - good for nights out or when you see a funny/stange/unbelivable thing and you just have to take a picture to prove you saw it Smile. Good reception and (at least in the UK) comes with a pair of headphones, PC cable, and a 128mb Sony Memory Stick.

But, and it's quite a big but, the MP3 has no Artist/Album playback (just folder based) and the SE joystick has been known to play up after time - I've just got mine replaced by Vodaphone after only 11 months.

How come  Most 8 year olds "must have" the latest phone here - they costs alot because the phones you buy/rent are subsidised by the network provider, but they just charge more for the phone calls themselves. Which often ends up being worse in the long run...

What OS is your phone?

Mine is Windows Mobile 5, and it seems the only thing that syncs properly with it is Windows Media Player 11 (Beta) - but that sends over music and playlists.

But even my Nokia 6230, it's software would send over the playlist as well..

Yeah, our phones here are subsidised as well, but our cellular companies here are really anal about allowing phones on their networks that they don't sell themselves. Thankfully TMobile will activate any phone as long as it is gsm and on the right band for their network.

I was amazed at all the cool things the K700i can do. And to think for a while I thought my Windows Mobile 5 phone was cool (aside from the usual reboots of it due to running Windows, kind of lame when you have to explain to someone "oh, sorry I dropped the call because I needed to reboot my phone").

psycik,

I have the Samsung i730 running Mobile 5. I don't do any AS stuff with the computer. I sync directly to our Exchange 2003 server. it sync's pretty much everything I need. I need to do a hard reset here soon too, it's acting funny lately.

No OS so to speak of, just the normal Sony Erricson phone firmware. Has no facility to sync media, just contacts and other Outlook stuff.

I get the MP3 files on it via a Sony Memory Stick. But because there is no built in support for view by Artist/Album etc, you are required to make a playlist manually if you want to play all songs from A particular artist/album for example.

Brian Ok, yeah my one is set to the exchange server as well, but I leave it to AS files, favourties. Then under WMP is will give it music as well - I've just set it to random, and I don't want a static library on the phone, but a different collection all the time.....having a bugger of a time figuring out how I can integrate it into my music plugin!!

McBain, have you tried any of the later versions on Winamp, say 5.2 they added portable support (no WM5 though), you might see if your phone/card shows up in there, or if you can create the playlist in there and stick it on the card/phone
