Ok I downloaded a few new skins and plugins last night. I have had some problems with each so I'll take it one at a time.

On all but the base skin my tv guide won't work I get a message saying that it could not find part of the path. I also don't seem to be getting the images to the side of my menus that are shown in the skins when you select them in config. I have gone into each skins file and looked and they are in there but for some reason are not being used when I start gbpvr.

My other problem is with plugins. Now with this one I'm pretty sure I've done something wrong I tried to install them just like it says in the wiki but none of them with the exception of the weather one seem to work. Other then the weather plugin, which as I said works fine, I also downloaded the Themes Manager, RSS plugin, theatre listings and the sports scores plugins. Now just as an example I took the theatre listings dll and extracted it to the plugins folder and then I found the skin.xml file and extracted that to the skins folder. When that didn't work I also tried just extracted the whole thing to the gbpvr folder which it suggests may work as well. I tried this with each of them. Now I may have chose the wrong dll since I noticed there is one just as you ope the file called html.dll and I did not use that one but the one labeled theatre.dll or something like that.

If there's any other information that you need to see please let me know. As I'm not sure what I did it's hard to tell what to list. Thanks.

For the theater plugin, extract the html.dll file to the root gbpvr folder (where gbpvr.exe resides), then copy the theaterplugin.dll to the plugins folder, then copy the skin.xml file to the theater folder under the Blue skin folder (ie c:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\Blue\theater). If the theater folder does not exist, just create the folder, and copy the skin file into it. Then extract the GetTheaterListings.exe and 1getlistings.bat file to the root gbpvr folder, edit the 1getlistings.bat file and change the 33063 to your zip code, then save the file out as getlistings.bat. You should then be able to load the gbpvr config program and see the theater plugin on the plugin page, and then also on the main menu in gbpvr as long as it is selected in the config program to use. It is a drawn out process to install, I know. I am hoping to have a new updated version of the theater plugin out soon that will simplify things greatly. As far as the other plugins are concerned, I don't know, I have never used them. If you have any other questions about the Theater plugin, let me know.

Thanks I'm having similar problems with the other plugins as well so I'm sure it's just something like this but I will do what you said so hopefully I can get this one squared away.

Does anybody know why my task images wouldn't be showing up?

What skin are you using? The default, 'Blue' has no task images.

ps most of my plugins come as zip files, simply extract the whole zip to ...\gbpvr\. Some need extra files - read the requirements section on the plugin's wiki page for more info.

Oh, and note that not all skins support all plugins.

Brian W.,

I did exactly as you said and when I go to the main menu the button is there but when I click on it I get the following message:

Error: could not find a part of the path 'c:/program files/devnz/gbpvr/skin/blue/theatre/skin.xml'

This is pretty much the same kind of message I've been getting from the other plugins as well. I don't understand why it can't find the path everything is there.

McBain,
Thank you for the advice. I have tried that. Is it possible if you try installing too many different ways though that it would be looking for it in more then one spot? Or would that not be a problem.

No it shouldnt cause a problem.

Have you looked to see if "C:/program files/devnz/gbpvr/skin/blue/theatre/skin.xml" exisits. I'm guessing this is your problem. Follow Brian_w's instructions for putting the skin.xml file in the .../blue/theatre/ folder

Use the McBainUK wayBig Grin

The following worked for me:

Download and extract Theater97AndUp.zip from the wiki here

Copy the contents of the gbpvr directory (from the zip) into 'C:/Program Files/devnz/gbpvr/' - this should keep the directory structure and therefore paths correct

Done

Just a quick point, and not sure if you just mistyped, but it shouldn't be "theatre", it should be "theater". Just verify that the entire path truly exists, and there is the skin.xml file there. If not, post a set of logs so we can see whats going on.

Thanks guys I have the theater plugin working now. I don't know how I managed to spell that wrong twice but I'm glad I did because it might not have gotten caught otherwise. Have any of you had any of the other problems I listed or know of any solutions for those?

Some would say you spelt it correctly! Smile

Which skins are you trying?
