i downloaded GBPVR09713.msi from the main page
installed to c:\programs\gbpvr\
running winXP Pro with SP2 and all the latest updates
DX9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
DotNet 1.1 and 2.0 installed

when installer finished, i got this message
[Image: untitled.jpg]
then a JIT message

i get the same messages when i try to run the config
when i try to run the program, it crashes right back out with no error message

i dont know the brand or model of card i have but its a bt878 chipset with PVR with mpeg2 and mpeg4 hardware encoding and im using btwincap

Wrapper.dll isnt one of my files. It looks like something wrong with the Microsoft data access components on your machine.

Its unrelated to the error message above, but I suspect your card is not compatible with GB-PVR. I think you'll find it does MPEG2 and MPEG4 software encoding, not the required hardware encoding. This is the case with all the old bt878 cards that use btwincap. Sorry.

i believe its a KWorld Xpert TV-PVR
one of the features it listed was hardware mp2/mp4 encoding, so that was my source for that info (not that i believe every advert)
anyway, i was hoping to find a way to use that hardware, if possible, without using the driver package that came with it
i might as well install norton AV :p

any suggestions?

Well, if it only does only support software encoding you could take a look at the SoftwareRecorder plugin

However, this won't fix the Wrapper.dll error you're getting - which unfortunatley does not have an obvious fix

Out of interest is this a fresh XP install?

it is not a fresh install
its probly... 3 or 4 months old now
i do strange things to my windows anyway

oh well, if im stuck with software encoding then i'll keep using MPC with lossless AVI and re-encode from there

thx for the help guys

I've just had a look on google, and I'm fairly sure this device has no hardware encodeing, but comes with software that can do software encoding to MPEG1/2/4.

It sounds like something wrong with the Microsoft data access components on your machine. You could try reinstalling MDAC. http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/ref/mdac/downloads/
