Problem with DBox plugin

Hi everyone

Just about got everything working within source being a Dbox.

I had a problem with deleting recordings so I added the patch.
I saw another patch to fix problems using DVB-T cards so installed that too.

Now, it works when selecting a problem through the TV guide but it doesn't work by selecting Live TV (even though the channel selected on the Dbox is a channel setup to work with GBPvr). It flickers a bit as though it's trying but then reverts back to the main menu.

It has worked before I installed the patches. Might be coincidence. Anyone got any idea why this option is nolonger working?

Also what exactly does Live TV do?

Currently I've only setup three channels on gbpvr from my Dbox (sorting them out slowly).

If I have a channel selected on the Dbox that's not setup in gbpvr and then select Live Tv what channel will (or should if it worked) appear? A channel that's setup in the gbpvr program (say the last channel viewed) or the current channel that the Dbox is on?

As I say Live TV isn't working at the moment for some reason so I can't test it.

If the channel that loads up is the channel the Dbox is on then can I record it even though it's not set up as a channel in GBPvr?

This would be useful as it'll take me ages to map all the channels in GBPvr so would like to be able to record something not setup.

Problem with Live TV could have something to do with me replacing NativeUtilities.dll with the patch listed in the survival guide.

I don't have the problem the patch was designed to fix because I don't yet have a DVB card in the PC. However since I'm getting one I thought I might as well anyway.

I think this dll file might have something to do with Live TV not working but I'll try it tonight when I get home.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Hi Sub, not sure which logs you require so I've recreated the problem and zipped all the logs within the GBPvr folder.

I can confirm that the problem lies with the updated NativeUtilities.dll file listed on the survival guide.

The Live TV option worked before overriding it and because I always make backups of files I override I changed it back to the original and it worked.

Changing it back once again to the amended dll file stops the Live TV working with my Dbox.

However, selecting channels from the EPG does work using either dll file.

This dll file is supposed to fix problems using a DVB card. I don't currently have a DVB card but since I'm getting one it seemed like a good idea but for now I'll use the old dll file for now.

I hope you find a solution to the problem.

I really cant help you too much with dbox plugin problem. I've never used this plugin. I can see its having some problems loading it though. I've moved this post to the 'Plugin and Skin support' forum, and renamed it so the author of this plugin sees it - hopefully he'll be able to help you out.

Going by the error message, it sounds like you have the old .net v1.1 version of this plugin. I wouldnt expect this to be compatible with v0.97 or above.

Can you list every file you've got in the "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\plugins\" directory? From the log messages above, it looks like there was an attempt to load a file called 'DboxRecorder.dll_OLD'!?

Hi,

you should remove the files "DboxRecorder.dll_old2" and "DboxRecorder.dll_OLD" from your plugins directory - you can backup them somewhere else on your harddisk. I would also recommend to move the files "ggrab.exe" and "cygwin1.dll" to a different folder.

If the current live-tv channel is mapped to the dbox capture source, the plugin will change the channel accordingly, independent of the channel that was selected before at the dbox itself.

No, you're only able to record or watch those channels that have been set up in the configuration of the plugin.



Regarding your live tv problems I do not find any suspicious in your log files. The error messages say that there are problems receiving data sometimes, for example:

This has nothing to do with the patches you have applied. It just says that there has no data arrived after 14 seconds. You can try and raise the timeouts in the configuration, or you can try to use the wingrabengine instead of ggrab.

The above live tv session went well for the first 20 seconds, but then there was a timeout-error inside of ggrab - I can only recognize such timeouts, but I cannot avoid them.

Hi alibert... wow quite a lot to take in.

I've removed the old backups to another directory.

I've also moved "ggrab.exe" and "cygwin1.dll" to it's own folder.

Firstly the Dbox source has disapeared from the capture sources tab and it doesn't show as an option to add. Is there a way of getting GBPvr to look in different locations for plugins?

I can then try the two NativeUtilities.dll files to see if the lastest now works.

Also make sure you dont have GBPVRBackendCommon.DLL or NativeUtilities.DLL in your plugins directory.
