I'm watching live TV (actually its my svideo input) and push the record button on my remote. If I choose the option to record for a specific amount of time it records the show but the screen goes blank. I have to back out to main menu, go to xrecord, pending shows and play the currently recording show. If I remember right this happened when I was trying to record actual live TV channels too.

If instead I choose the option to record until I exit live TV, again the screen goes blank and it seemed to hang my machine.

Any ideas?

my most recent run after the screen went blank I couldn't even back out...had to kill GBPVR via the task mangler...then go back in to watch.

If I just stay at the blank screen I do get a recording BUT the audio is all fouled up.

I'm using version 97.13. I know Sub does not recommend using GBPVR for recording VHS tapes...so maybe I will give up...but its hard when I know others have done this with better luck.

Logs attached....hope its what you need.

The first time after I started recording the screen went black but I quickly hit the back button and got back to the menu and could start watching the show again.

The second time after I started recording the screen went black but I waited awhile (30 seconds or so) then when I hit the back button nothing happened...I had to use task mangler to kill gbpvr.

Try running the re-registerfilters.bat file in the root gbpvr folder.

Yep, what he said.

I'd also switch the deinterlacing setting to 'encoder pass-through'

cool...I'll give it a try.

1) just double click on the .bat file right? what exactly is that doing? How did the filters get unregistered? How do I know if I have to do that again?

2) interlace settings are in the config app I take it? what does encoder pass through do?

Sorry to have so many questions but I like to understand things...engineer at heart!!

Yeah, just double click on the bat file. It re-registers all of the filter files with the operating system so that programs can use them (ie gbpvr). Not sure how they get unregistered, Sub might be able to shed some light on that, but from what I have seen, it is most common during version upgrades.

Yes interlace settings are in the config app under the Misc tab. If I recall correctly (and hopefully I don't bugger this up, I am sure Sub will correct me if I do though), when you have it set to encoder pass through, it will pass the video straight to the video card so that the video card itself can do hardware deinterlacing instead of passing it through a filter like ffdshow (which requires a lot more cpu horsepower). Hopefully I got that correct Smile

I re-registered filters...then from the config app set interlace to "encoder pass through" (it had been set to "none".

My live TV was soooo hercky jerky and no sound...decided to go back to deinterlacine=none (I have really wimpy computer but never had probs with live or recorded video until just now...so figured I'd go back to old settings). Now after I try to start recording it boots me out and gives the the famous object reference error...attached are logs!!
