I'm Trying to get the live TV working between the main computer in the living room and my sons computer in his bedroom (GBPVR client). I have the client computer set to streaming mode. I am having mixed success.

For example, It seems to work fine the first time I start GBPVR on the client but then if I exit live TV and change channel via the TV Guide the new channel won't play. It flashes on the screen for a split second and then drops back into the TV Guide.

I am running on a wirless 54g network with excellent signal strength.
I'm pretty sure the wireless network is not the problem becasue i can stream recordings and avi's no problem.

I have attached my log files just incase.

Maybe try the file sharing mode. It might work better for you.

Changed to file sharing mode in the config and the result is worse. I get an extremely bad Video and audio stuttter, even when playing live TV for the first time. Pre-recorded programs and videos still play fine.

Donloaded and patched GBPVR.exe as suggested by HtV but it made no difference. Below is the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log from the time I start live TV on the Client. It appears to start streaming for a few seconds and then crashes. Any Ideas?

I've been having more or less the same problems.
The solution for me was adding "GBPVRRecordingService.exe" to the exceptions list in Windows Firewall (SP2) on the GBPVR server.
If you have a Firewall on your server you can try doing the same.

Hi!

I have the exact same problem with my GBPVR client and I have a gigabit LAN, so your WLAN is not the problem.

For me Live TV starts sometimes (with a few hickups and skips for a few seconds) and then perfect playback with no problems at all. And then the next time I try Live TV it just displays a split second and then skips back to the menu. If I retry it can sometimes start playing nicely or skip back to menu. It seems I have more bad luck than good luck. Say 20% good luck and 80% bad.

So all in all, although the client mode is a MOST welcome and for me highly useful addition to the functionality, it has its share of problems to get solved first.

I have seen posts discussing firewalls and antivirus problems, so I will check that out this evening. Otherwise I am stuck. I'll report back with status.

Edit:
I have this problem on one of my clients only, the other (a laptop) works fine...
