kick me if I'm wrong, but I think in 0.97 my prefered aspect ratio (auto normally) would be remembered, but in 0.98 it returns to default (piller box I think...) every time I enter live TV.
If I'm right, is there anyway to fix it....

I've just checked on both of my PCs, and both seem to be remembering it correctly - which is what I expected, since there has been no changes in that area of the app for v0.98.

thanks as always for replying so quickly. i did a bit more fiddling and it's only the auto setting that is not remembered. i set auto, exit tv, open tv again and auto is no longer selected. all the other ratio settings are remembered fine.

The auto setting is no different than any of the others.

If you left it on 'auto', then restart GB-PVR, start tv, then press F7, what aspect ratio name does it show in the top left?

ok, live tv -> f7 6 times to auto (black bars top and bottom disappear) -> exit live tv -> live tv again (black bars are back) -> f7 and it shows fill (black bars obviously go again) -> f 7 5 more times back to auto. So i guess auto is remembered, but it just doesn't work straight off and needs reselecting each time...

Thats weird. Works fine here.

You could check the value stored in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Devnz\LastAspectRatio registry key.

Sub,

Along the lines of the aspect ratio using 'auto'. I have a standard def TV 4:3, and when I play a widescreen DVD, I have to manually cycle the ratios with F7 to get the proper widescreen display. Then if I finish watching the DVD, when I go to watch Live TV, it has the widescreen bars on the top and bottom and I have to cycle through to get it to display correctly. I understand that because I manually selected the widescreen ratio to play the DVD, it will retain that setting to watch Live TV, but what can I do about getting it to auto-detect the widescreen dvd? I have used WinDVD to play the same DVD and it automatically goes to the widescreen ratio no problem. Thanks.

Yes, I'm aware of this. Unfortunately I cant currently auto detect DVD aspect ratios. I'll add it to a future release.

Great! If I could send you a brew through a PM I would! Instead I will just drink one for ya tonight. As usual, always appreciate your work.

yup, it's definately holding the right value in the registry. I think I've spotted the real problem now though. If I'm already veiwing live TV the ratio selection changes the video aspect, but the OSD is always 'fullscreen' on my TV (i.e. over lays the lower black area in letterbox), however if I enter live TV from the menu the OSD is within the video area and I have to f7 to get it back to full screen. I hope the pics explain it better....

P.S extra points awarded for the correct answer to the above question....Big Grin
