I've got the client set up and working quite nicely - very cool feature.

In streaming mode, everything works fine.

In File sharing mode, recordings work great, live TV studders badly no matter what settings I use.

Seems overall that VMR7 or overlay manager is the way to go for my setup (Dell D600 laptop with ATI Mobility 9000 card) using the intervideo decoder. If I try VMR9 all sorts of odd things happen no matter what else I do.

Any thoughts on what I can try to fix the studdering issue in liveTV mode for the client? At first I thought it might be a buffering issue, but I can rewind to the beginning of the liveTV stream and the studdering doesn't go away.

I'd like to use file sharing mode if at all possible as the quality seems better, and the controls work much better.

Below is the native log

I'm not in front of my PC at the moment, but there is a <client mode cached read size> or something similar in the config.xml file that you could try increasing. It may help you with file streaming mode.

Found this setting
<ClientModeCachedReadSize>49152</ClientModeCachedReadSize>
Changed to 89152, unfortunately, it didn't help the liveTV problem in file sharing mode.

Sorry, there isnt really anything else you can tweak. You'd probably need to stick with streaming mode.

Couple other points of note:

No matter what I change the ClientModeCachedReadSize setting to, it doesn't seem to make a difference, either way - do I need to do anything special (like restart the recording svc) to make my changes take effect?

Also, if I pause the liveTV stream, when I resume playback, it will be smooth for a time before starting to studder again. However, rewinding does not seem to have the same effect.

You need to restart gbpvr.exe, but thats all. You only need to adjust this setting on the client machine.
