I've had a PVR setup with a PVR150 and a PVR150MCE for nearly two years now, and it's been a very rough time. I've sent both cards back to Hauppauge for replacement at different times. The drivers have never provided quality recordings. There was the timestamp issue which has been thoroughly documented in numberous threads, and I've tried the beta drivers, which made better recordings, but didn't remove the problems. I upgraded a month ago to the new drivers they put out and now I have recordings which freeze, and if I hit pause and then play, they'll start playing again, but only from the last spot I paused the recording. One of the cards is failing again giving me BSOD's and I have to shut the power completely off on the computer in order to get it to boot properly. I've replaced every single component in my computer except for those cards, and I still have various quirky problems.

Bottom line, I'm really fed up with these cards. I'm wary to go with a different Hauppauge card with all of the hardware issues I've dealt with, and the lackluster driver development. So I'm in the market for some new capture cards, and possibly even a hardware decoder.

I'd like some rock solid recommendations on which non-Hauppauge cards people are using without any problems, especially if you've used different cards and can comment on one being better than another.

Sub - you've used all the cards in development, which ones do you use in your main PVR setup?

I use a PVR500 and Twinhan DVB-S card in my main setup. Works great for me, even though some people have had problems with PVR500s. Its the same with PVR150's though - they work great most people, but some people have endless problems.

Sub,

I'm thinking about picking up a Twinhan 102g card, which model are you using? Any thoughts about adding CAM support? My brother got a Viewsat Extreme but I'd rather have it in the PC and integrated with GBPVR.
