Has anyone else noticed they released an update that causes the boxes to go into standby after so long? So when you first tune a channel, its the previously watched channel? Does anyone know of a fix for this?

If you were to watch the dish box, it has a little screen saver type thing that says press select to continue. I guess if no one has a way to disable this, could sub possible add it into the program so that it sends Enter before tuning a channel?

I asked for this awhile back... there are no plans (at there was none).... I am looking into the beta version of the hauppage ir blast program to see if there is anything new... or perhaps using HIP and some training to do this... I did find that if I connect a TV to the RF output of the STB, it delays the screen saver a little longer... but unfortunately.. there no disabling...

Well I use a usb-uirt, it doesnt seem like it would be much to add send Enter before, as there is already a send enter after.

Yikes... was this update downloaded automatically or did you choose to update from the menu?

<--- runs over to TV to make sure auto update is still disabled Wink

What version of girder are you using? The newest version has a scheduling component built in, but with the older version there were plugins you could install that you could use to schedule events. Man, I hope I'm not forced to update my Dish box with this shitty feature in the future. I finally got away from using Girder, I don't want to go back to using it. Sad

Yes, I figured it out.

Create a command that will sends ENTER to your Dish STB using the USB-UIRT. Then add an event, make it a "Girder Event" and click the Learn button. Type something in the box, like "smackDish" Smile

Now you can use Windows Scheduler to schedule a batch file that calls the following:
"C:\Program Files\Girder\event.exe" smackDish -silent

i was using a dish set tuner for a while that did this (311 i think)... to get around it i ended up creating a VCR job on the receiver on a random channel that went from 5:00am - 4:59am, repeating daily... did the trick for me Smile
