GBPVR and external tuner

Is there any issue with running an external USB tuner (adaptec dual 3610) for gbpvr? Would being on the USB bus be "slower" or pehaps cause stuttering rather than on the PCI bus?

Its no problem, assuming you're using high speed USB ports rather than the old USB1.1 or low speed USB2.0 ports.

"low speed" USB2.0 ports??? I didn't know there was something faster than that other than Firewire & Firewire800.

They did some stupid rebranding exercise with USB a couple of years back.

USB 1.1 initially meant 12Mb/s and USB 2.0 was 480Mb/s. Nice an simple.

Then they decided to rename the older 12Mb/s USB 1.1 to also be USB 2.0, and renamed the 480Mb/s USB 2.0 to USB 2.0 High-Speed.

I think they were worried that people would stop buying devices that only required 12Mb/s USB, since it had an older "1.1" name instead of the "2.0" name used for the high speed devices.
