I've posted before and searched the forums and I'm getting frustrated with how volume works in gbpvr. When I fire up GBPVR, it's silent. If I press volume up or down (which controls the WAVE), GBPVR will then return to the correct volume on the wave.

Second, when listening to music, whenever a new track comes up, GBPVR seems to reset at the internal volume of GBPVR (which I have set to 100%). So at every track, the volume blares, and by just pressing the volume up or down once, it will reset to whatever the WAVE volume is set at. So if it's set at like 10%, it will quickly go down. But you can imagine, I don't want to go and change the volume every time a new track goes on.

I need help navigating and working this volume issue!

Its actually a pretty complex topic and a lot of factors have bearing on it (type of remote, whether it is controlling the master volume or local volume, whether you're using Windows Media Player for playback/visualisations etc).

I dont know for sure, but I'm guess this is something to do with using WMP/Visualisations for music, in combination with a remote (like Hauppauge remote) that controls the local volume rather than the master volume (and local volume is ignored by WMP). You'll probably find that disabling WMP visualisations will behave more like you expect.

I've played around with the visualizations, but hasn't changed anything. Same problem. At every track, the volume is back up loud... So what we've resorted to doing is controlling the volume via the amp (i don't want to do that) rather than from the computer. Which volume should i have the remote control? Maybe that will help

Did you try setting the following in config.xml:

<UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio> <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForNetRadio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForNetRadio>

Which volume is controlled depends on what remote you're using.

yes i've done that (not for netradio, just for wmpaudio).
I'm using the hp 45 button. I've set the volume to control the wave. Should i set it to control the master? the internal volume?

Where have you set that? There isnt a GB-PVR setting for this.

Anyway, reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

doesnt the volume plugin come with an app that controls volume? try removing that app, or doing a fresh install.

The Volume plugin dosnt control volume in any way, it just watches for changes and reports them on screen.
