Ok, i just reinstalled GB-PVR cause i got carried away with a ton of plug-ins.
So, now that I have just the basic blue version running I can not change channels when watching live tv.

for the record:
I have no extra plug-ins installed
I have not changed any settings for remote control use

When Live TV plays it shows the basic "+", "-", pause sign, and Exit buttons on the screen. I use my mouse to change the channel and it changes the text on the screen but the actual video channel does not change.
However, the Exit button and pause button does work.

any ideas anyone?

You're using either an svideo or composite input on your capture device, which will always just show the channel that your set top box is currently tuned to.

To be able change channel on your set top box, you need to add an IR Blaster to your setup, and configure your capture source's 'Channel Changer' appropriately.

ok, one more quick question.
Im looking at the MCE remotes. Would that work? or does it only work for Win media center?
Im not using the Media center.
and yes, im using S-video as my connection.

thanks again.

Yes, quite a few people are using that remote on XP. It works on XP Pro, I'm not sure about XP Home.

Ok Sub,
I got the MCE remote today and all of the buttons work except for the
"+ & -" channel change and manually entering the chann number. The display shows that the channel has changed, but like i mentioned in my previous post with using a keyboard, the video doesn't switch over to the station.

The remote is for controlling GB-PVR, not for controlling your set top box.

If you want to change channels on your set top box, then you need to set up the IR Blaster, which luckily comes with your MCE remote. To do use the IR Blaster, you need to install the third party 'HIP' software. I dont use it myself, so cant give you much info on doing this, but there is info about setting it up on the wiki: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/...rdware.HIP (you're primarily interested in the IR Blaster bits of that page)

As I said above, you've set up GB-PVR to use the composite or svideo input on your capture device. This input will only ever be receiving the channel your set top box is currently tuned to. Literally, there is only one video channel coming in through that connection. If you want GB-PVR to change channels, then it needs to change channels on your set top box. To do this, it uses an IR Blaster, which pretends to be your set top box remote, and sends fake button presses each time it needs to change channels.

Does that make sense?
