Hi All,

So I'm having a terrible time coming up with the "perfect combination" of decoders that will allow good playback for all files. I have two ATSC tuner cards, so I record from those in dvr-ms file format, and from my analog card in mpg format. It seems that no matter what combination I select, I either have good playback with the HDTV files, and bad playback with the mpg's, or vice versa (basically get "ghosting"/"trailing" on my mpg's when I have dxva turned on, but that's the only way the the HDTV files will play smoothly -- I've tried converting my dvr-ms files to mpg with no luck).

So my question is this, how hard would it be to create a utility/plugin that would use a different decoder based on the file extension? I have a fairly good programming background, so if it's conceptually possible, I think I could handle the programming.

Thanks

So looking through GBPVRPublic.dll, I don't see something like "setPreferredDecoder"... so I'm not sure if what I want to do is possible via the public dll?

Another approach I'm thinking of taking is to write a utility that I could run via a button push on my remote, that would essentially alter the config.xml file. However, I notice that changes made to config.xml will not update on the fly (ie without restarting gbpvr). It must be possible to do, as you can change the decoder from the settings page. What exactly needs to be done to update the preferred decoder?

Thanks

Looks like the "CreateOrUpdateProperty" function in "CommonGBPVRUtilities" library will do the updating... but how do you get GBPVR to actually "use" the new config file...?

Sorry, but what you're wanting to do isnt really possible from a plugin.

No worries... the problem is actually related to DXVA (in that I want to use it for HD, but not for Analog)... so I just wrote a simple program that will toggle the Intervideo registry setting that controls DXVA.

Thanks for the help!
