Hi Sub & all else,

Just wondering about something here. Let's say I have a reoccuring recording set up of a show that is on every morning at a certain time. If I go in and remove one or two pending shows that I know are re-runs that I have already recorded it seems that after the next EPG update they are back in the pending schedule. Is that "normal" behavior?

TIA,

T.

How did you remove them? Was it from the Recordings screen?

Hi Sub,

I went into the Recordings -> Pending screen and selected the individual ones that I wanted to remove from the recording schedule because they were dupes that were recorded a few months ago. After removing them at some point in the next 2 days EPG load they were back. I am in the US, I use zap2it, and have it set to reload the entire EPG.

Let me know if you need any more info.

Thanks!

I believe this problem is related to the answer in post #10 in this thread.
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=20422

Your question: Are the show unique identifiers kept in the database indefinitly or will they get purged at some point which could allow duplicates months or years down the road?

Sub's answer: Its not a separate list, but rather a field associated with existing recordings. Its only considered a duplicate if you already have a recording (pending or ready) with the specific unique ID.

PS.
As far as I’m aware, TVGuideSupercharger is the -only- way you can schedule “new” shows while avoiding older reruns with the same title.
If you want, I can walk you through backing up your existing config, and setting up TVGuideSupercharger one step at a time. It will take about 1/2 hour.
I’ll be returning around 8PM this evening.

No thats not the case here. When a pending episode of season recording is deleted, it isnt actually removed from the database. Its status is changed from 'pending' to 'deleted'. This item stays in the database to make sure the situation described in the original post does not occur. These episodes are only finally removed after they have expired (ie start time in the past).

Thanks sub, I understand.
But if the timeslot or unique ID changed during the epg update, the rerun could be rescheduled.
Gota run for now!

I've never seen the unique ID change, and I'm fairly sure they dont, but if it did it would cause this.

I agree with you, but I was thinking something different when I read the question.
“Morning shows” do not always populate the last 4 numbers of the Unique-ID, and I didn’t know if those shows could have a “deleted” status.
But without knowing the name of the morning show, it’s impossible to know if it consistently provides a unique-id or an original-airdate.

And thank you ram,
This helps me understand something I’ve been wondering about for a while now. Wink
