I don't know the first thing about working with GB-PVR and would appreciate it if someone would enlighten me.

I purchased a DELL E510 that included an MCE05 TV tuner. It works with Windows Media Center edition. I tried installing the GB-PVR software but received several errors about unable to register various .ax programs. It won't run the configure utility.

What I would like to find out is this. If I install XP Pro on that system, will the gbpvr software be enough to enable me to view and record tv programming, with that card, or is there more that would be needed?

Thanks in advance

I would also make sure if the TV Tuner is supported by GBPVR, check for compatibility from the main site. Otherwise, if it's supported, I don't see any problem with your using GBPVR. I know there is an option to re-register filters from the main program list. Try these first.
Win XP Pro SP 2
ASUS P5k-PRO Dual Core 3.0 GHZ with 4GB RAM
1 Seagate 150 GB SATA HD
1 Seagate 1TB SATA HD
1 Seagate 750 GB SATA HD
1 Hauppauge PVR500MCE
2 MVP (2 Wired / 1 Wireless via 2 Linksys WRT54G routers)
1 dead MVP (searching for replacement)

I thought that the card was made by Hauppauge and OEM'd by Dell, but that may not be correct and I can't find any means of confirming that. It may be that I have a card that won't work with GBPVR.

It sounds like you didnt install the required .net 2.0 before installing GB-PVR.

Thanks Sub, that was precisely the problem. I first installed the .net 2.0 and the installation completed without errors.

I am still unable to get GB-PVR to recognize the tuner card. Either I have not stumbled across the correct settings or, more likely, this card is an oddball that simply won't work with GB-PVR

What type of card is it exactly? Who made it?

It came in my Dell system. Dell calls it a "Single TV Tuner w/remote, TVT2, MCE05, FH, DIM". (I now regret ordering the system with the card, I should have left it out and gone out and picked up a Hauppauge card.) The card works with MS Media Center, but I want to switch the OS to XP and hope to not lose the use of the card.

I pulled the card out of the system to examine it. It's made by ATI. I don't know how to determine if it is one of the supported ATI cards.
